The Results
Edinburgh has a limited number of properties available and there are lots of people needing a home. If you choose a home in a popular area, there will be lots of other people wanting to live there too. By using the search options below, you will be able to see how popular properties are.
Waiting Period
In the search results you will see a column called Waiting Period. This is the length of time the successful home seeker has been registered with EdIndex or the time in their current tenancy.
Priority
Priority may be given to people who are unable to access or occupy their present home due to a mobility issue, homelessness priority need, households affected by demolition programmes or overcrowding / under occupation. These would be awarded only after assessment.

Your guide to searching for results
Below are, the search options available.
1. Locations
Here you can search on :-
- All Council properties or individual areas or
- All Housing Associations & Co-ops or individual landlords
2. Requirements
You can search on:
Bedroom size - Select the number of bedrooms you need - There are rules on which property size you can be considered for. For more information, contact your local neighbourhood office for advice, click on Contact Us for their details.
Floor level - Select the floor you would prefer to be on or select 'any'.
Category - Starter / Mover - Select which one you want to search on or search on both. To find out more, click on - What does this mean?
Property Type - You can search on, Sheltered, House, Flat, Four in a block, Multi-storey flat or you can select all of them.
3. Keywords
Search - You can type in an address, area, or letting area.
4. Closing Date
You can select a specific closing date or choose the all dates option if you want to see results from every closing date.
