Things to Think About When you are Bidding
Although the Council has nearly 23,000 properties in Edinburgh, more than 95% of these have tenants. If a property is not advertised, it is not available for let. You will find that we have fewer available properties than you thought we have.

You can bid 3 times in each advertising cycle, so it is important that you do not waste your bids, check that the properties you bid for are appropriate to your needs, if you are unsure, please contact us on the telephone numbers below before you bid - our specially trained staff are ready to help.

Some of our properties are in great demand and some property types and areas are more popular than others. Every week we receive well over 4,000 Notes of Interest and there are currently more than 25,000 people registered with EdIndex. You must be registered with EdIndex in order to bid and you should quote your EdIndex Reference Number when you contact us.

EdIndex is a partnership between the Council and 20 Registered Social Landlords (Housing Associations and Co-operatives) that has developed ONE application form and ONE housing register for home seekers in Edinburgh. Once registered with EdIndex you don't have to visit all the partners to find out where you stand as each of the EdIndex partners can give you general advice about your housing options and completing an EdIndex form.
